competition results

The Greenkeeper’s Trophy was held on Friday 5 July.  This charity event was created in memory of a former greens staff member of Rudding Park, James Poskitt, and in its 6th year, the competition continues to go from strength to strength.  Fortunately the weather was fantastic on the day and the course was in superb condition.  The competition proved to be a close finish with several groups in contention throughout the closing holes.  Finishing in top spot was the group containing Graham Poskitt, Jon Bromley, Phil Kitching and Danny Millar.  Longest Drive was taken by Rudding Park’s James King, with Nearest The Pin going to Jon Bromley.  Congratulations to all that competed on the day, and for making it such a success.

Saturday 5 July saw the first weekend Medal competition of the month take place.  The weather tried to spoil proceedings with torrential downpours affecting the majority of the day’s play.  However, as buoyant as ever, the members continued regardless.  In Division 2, Richard Brewster grabbed third spot with an impressive nett 69, continuing his recent return to form.  Second place was secured by Rob Park with a nett 66, just missing out on top spot which was taken by David Griffith with a superb nett 63.  Division 1 saw Michael Milligan secure another top placed finish with a nett 71, closely behind Robert Britton who secured second place with a nett 71. Taking first place in the division and with a fabulous 2 under par (gross) round was John MacNamara.  The former club champion shot his best round this year to continue his impressive form, and take his first weekend medal title of the season.  Scoring, however, seemed unaffected by the weather with several twos recorded on the day by Bob Fawbert, Graham Metcalfe, Floyd Greco, Art Severn, Joe Merrell, Colm Connolly, Michael Milligan and David Smith.

Tuesdays are now Medal days with the new Weekly Repton Medal Singles.  The new competition promises to be great fun for all, as well as being thoroughly competitive.  The winner from each week will be invited back in September for Finals Day to find the overall Repton Singles Winner.  Details and subscription to this event can be found at the Golf Academy reception, or by contacting Rudding Park Golf on 01423 872100.
