Wine Evenings at Rudding Park

Harrogate Champagne Evening

Rudding Park hosts fantastic wine evenings; with carefully selected wines or Champagnes, acclaimed speakers and gourmet menus.

The dress code for these wine evenings is “smart” – however, it is up to you how this is interpreted.  For most wine evenings, some of our guests like to wear “black tie” however this is completely optional – all we ask is that you dress in a manner you feel appropriate for an evening at Rudding Park.

Saturday 13 March 2010 - Nyetimber - Quintessentially English
The evening will be hosted by Nyetimber's Francis Brackley. The first Nyetimber vineyards were planted in 1988 in the heart of West Sussex. Over time the wines have attracted international acclaim and set a high benchmark for premium sparkling wines the world over. Now the largest vineyard in the UK, the Nyetimber Estate comprises 350 acres under vine. Nyetimber is the only producer in the UK to make premium sparkling wine exclusively from estate grown fruit, thus ensuring complete control at every stage of the process.

Saturday 29 May 2010 - A selection of Portuguese wines

This wine evening will be hosted by Claudio Martins from Castas wines. During the night you will discover indigenous Portuguese grapes types and match them with Portuguese infused foods.

Portuguese wines are different. It’s not surprising, considering they are made from some of the most flavorful grapes in the world, most of which are grown nowhere else. Add a magnificent diversity of soils and bang up to date winemaking, and you have a country whose wines you just have to taste.

The whites are going to become increasingly popular at the fresh, easy drinking level, through to the premium and complex styles. The reds are going to continue to embrace a wider audience, not only from the more established areas and wineries but from the rising stars too.

There is more to Portuguese wine than rustic Dão and acidic Vinho Verde. Portuguese wine has improved dramatically in the past few years and this has won the support of a number of champions in the trade and media

Saturday 17 July 2010 - Perrier-Jouët
Perrier-Jouët was established in 1811 by Pierre-Nicolas-Marie Perrier, adding the maiden name of his wife, Ad le Jouët, to name the house.  Although off to a flying start it was the next generation, in the shape of Charles Perrier who succeeded his father, that did most to build up the reputation of the family business.

Guests at this wine evening will be able to taste Perrier-Jouët’s renowned Champagne’ Belle Epoque. Although conceived by Michel Budin, marketing director Pierre Ernst and cellarmaster André Bavaret in the latter 20th Century, its origins are actually much older than this date suggests. Their inspiration was the discovery of a beautifully decorated bottle, dating from 1902, found long neglected and gathering dust in a cupboard in a back room.
£69.50 per person
