Marcus and Sadie Saturday 23 September 2023
Marcus and Sadie tied the knot on Friday 23 August 2024 with a ceremony in the Chapel followed by a beautiful reception in the Radcliffe Room
From an Italian proposal to chic wedding portraits and a Saxobongo reception with glow sticks M&S sure know how to celebrate in style...Limoncello shot anyone?
With an incredible eye for detail, M&S transformed the Radcliffe Room with a timeless theme oozing with elegance. Gypsophelia and foliage surrounded gold accents and flickering candle light to create a setting of the upmost sophistication - truly sensational!
Read on to find out how they fell in love, chose their suppliers and how an Italian fairy-tale arrived in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside
We hope you feel inspired...
So, how did you two meet?
We met back in 2017 when Marcus joined at my previous work. One day I was asked to train Marcus, he decided (bad idea) to get his phone out - I quickly told him to pay attention and listen! This is when Marcus fell in love with me... It wasn’t a fairytale to begin with and it took Marcus a good year of chasing. Of course in the cliche way at the Christmas Do in December 2018 did I cave in and agreed to a date with Marcus. The rest is history as they say…
When did you know they were 'the one'/how did they pop the question?
We both instantly clicked and became inseparable, we would do absolutely everything together from walking alpacas to playing crazy golf. We both knew early on that we were each others “person” and fell completely head over heels moving in with each other after just 6 months. Marcus surprised me for Valentine’s Day with a trip to Sorrento in Italy as he knew it was my favourite place in the world, he told me it was his treat and I thought nothing of it. On June 2nd we arrived in Sorrento after a long morning of travel, looking back Marcus was acting strange and ordered a bottle of champagne at 5pm “why not we are on holiday?!” Was my naive reply. Marcus had organised a dinner that evening at the hotel but this didn’t go down great as I became hangry and wanted pizza… little did I know that an hour later Marcus would be proposing to me at sunset looking over Mount Vesuvius. It was magical.
What was the biggest MUST HAVE for your wedding?
A good DJ and copious amounts of limoncello in ode to our engagement. We incorporated a shot of limoncello into our ceremony and had shots for guests as they entered the wedding breakfast room.
Other than saying 'I do', what is the most unforgettable moment from the day?
Having both our families and friends in one room celebrating with us, a moment that we will both cherish forever.
Which supplier was a real stand out for you? The unsung star who deserves a special mention.
Eleanor the celebrant - just wow. We knew when we first met Eleanor that she was the perfect fit for our ceremony. To this day our guests say it was the best ceremony that they have attended, full of happy tears and lots of laughter. The way she told our story was nothing short of amazing and she will always have a place in our hearts.
What was it in your eyes that gives Rudding Park the WOW factor?
We initially looked at around 4/5 wedding venues and Rudding Park was the last one that we viewed. When we arrived we instantly knew it was our venue, the staff were so kind and attentive, the location is spectacular and it has everything you need on site. The chapel is certainly a wow factor.
How did you style your space? Did your wedding day have a theme?
We gave Lydia at Ambience our full trust and the only brief we provided was elegant, classic and sophisticated. Our florist, Nicola at Occasions Florist, brought our vision to life when we requested lots of gypsophelia and foliage. We were able to visit Ambience style lounge and pick our clear beaded charger plates, our tapered candles and our selfie mirror. Ambience even made a custom table plan in acrylic writing on a vintage gold mirror. We trusted both Lydia and Nicola to work their magic and knew they would create something amazing - they exceeded all of our expectations.
What is your funniest memory from the day?
Sadie finding random items of clothing and deciding to walk around with a fluffy hat and a bag pack on for the whole evening… or seeing our parents raving with glow sticks!
What's the best advice you could give to couples who are about to tie the knot at Rudding Park?
The best advice we can give to anyone wanting to tie the knot at Rudding Park is that you will be in the BEST hands. The wedding coordinators, Izzy and Sarah, are incredible at what they do and guided us through every step. The chef who customised our menu to make it Italian themed and even made us our own pizza canapés, to the bar staff and waiters, and the hotel staff. They are what make Rudding Park so special.
And finally, we'd love to hear about your experience with Rudding Park....
I can’t thank Rudding Park enough for making our wedding dreams come true!
